Paint on wood

Local artist Ian Lighhtfoot once said how he’d seen a postcard depicting a ship that ran aground in Hartlepool bay, & whose cargo of pit props floated ashore & made for perfect firewood. He described it like a scene from Whisky Galore (written by Hartlepool native Compton Mackenzie), as folks helped themselves to the loot. Sounds like a perfect day out to me…
