We would like to monitor how you interact with this website so we may continue to improve it.
With the emergence of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 and changes to government rules, face coverings are mandatory for all visitors, except in our designated café area.
Please continue to maintain a social distance from others, sanitise or wash hands regularly during your visit, and use the NHS Test and Trace app.
These measures will help to keep staff and visitors safe.
What we are doing to keep you safe
We have introduced new cleaning procedures and social distancing measures, which have been guided by the experts.
Cleaning and disinfecting
We’ll be sanitising throughout the day and giving the gallery a deep clean every week. All staff will have cleaning training and they’ll be using a two-stage cleaning process including a detergent, followed by a disinfectant.
You’ll see new social distancing signs throughout the gallery, including one-way systems where possible. We’re also limiting the number of visitors in each area, such as the North Transept and toilets.
Limited services and facilities
Our young people’s area will stay closed, and the cafés will have a reduced service. We will no longer be functioning as a Tourist information point or taking bookings for the Theatre and Borough Hall.
Protecting you and our staff
We’ve installed plastic shields at our reception desks and we’ll be providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to our staff if necessary.
How you can keep yourself and others safe
To keep the Gallery as safe and clean as possible, we need your help too. We ask that you follow a few simple rules when you visit.
Before coming to the Gallery
Stay home if you’re unwell
Please don’t come to the gallery if you feel sick or have COVID-19 symptoms.
Bring your bank card
As we can’t accept cash if you want to buy anything.
While you’re at the Gallery
Use hand sanitising stations
You’ll find these before you reach reception and throughout the Gallery. Make sure you follow proper handwashing if you use the toilets.
Follow the social distancing signs
Keep to the one-way system and try to stay at least 2 metres from others as much as possible.
Keep to a one-hour visit maximum
This is so that other visitors can use enjoy the Gallery if we’re at maximum capacity.
Wear a face covering
If you’re not ready to come back just yet
Whenever you’re ready, we will be here to give you a warm welcome back. In the meantime, you have some options.
Don’t forget you can still use our digital resources from home why not visit our newly revamped website hartlepoolartgallery.co.uk. And stay tuned to our other social media platforms for up to date information and inspiration.
We will keep you updated on any changes
Hartlepool Borough Council will be closely monitoring our local situation and we hope to make the rest of our services and facilities available again soon, depending on Government guidance
